How can I make my crosman storm xt quieter?

I just bought a crosman storm xt airgun and have shot it twice in my backyard. It was extremely loud and sounded like a real gunshot. I've heard that this gun get quieter after a certan number of shots is this true? Can i use heavier pellets or make a silencer although i think there illegal or anything? thanks
