89 Firebird V8 fuel or electrical?

When the car is cold, I have the crank it a lot to get it to turn on. After like 5 minutes of trying, the car will eventually start. Once the car is on and idling for a few minutes, it just turns off. Anybody know why? Im not sure if this is fuel related or computer related.
