Was my cat choking or coughing/about to vomit?

ok so a few hours ago right after i fed my kitten a 1/2 inch size vitamint tablet, and then like half a minute later i heard a coughing sound and it was from the kitten but i couldnt tell if he was choking or trying to throw up (this cat never coughs up hairball, and i never heard it cough before just sneeze). so i perform the heimlech maneuver on it and in like two tries my cat stoped coughing but yet nothing came flying out of its mouth? was it choking or not?
